I chose Office Ultimate 2007 as it seemed to not only have everything I could possibly need to run a business, but also easy functionality that would keep me from pulling my hair out because of software or design issues. Set up was fairly easy: two disks came with the package. Disk One contains most of the software and Disk Two contains applications that guarantee that you are the owner of the software and have the right to all of the Accounting and key business functions. Ribbon technology removes the old "hunt and find" menu method
This version is what you'll need to have to run an efficient home office. Word Perfect is a much better word processing system, but it has problems with photos and captions; as does Word 2007. Excel is the best spreadsheet, but I find it curious that it can't insert an automatic numbering feature when Access can. Access has its limitations, but it was always the best home data management system. PowerPoint is the real star because it's so easy to use. Picture manage and Paint features should be combined but they aren't.
Best thing now is that all of these 2007 programs are much more reasonably priced. However, many of my friends and colleagues still use 2003 and require you to save them differently. Glad to have them.
I puechased this from the vendor on May 4th, 2011. The order arrived within a few days via US Mail. I chose this vendor because it was a good price, and also advertised as eligable for the free upgrade to Office Ultimate 2010. I've been fighting with Microsoft for a week to get the upgrade. However, even though the product was purchased during the correct timeframe, according to the Product Code and Product Key, this is not eligable for the upgrade.
